Paso Doble Study #6 acrylic on paper, 10" x 14", 2009 The Paso Doble is that most Latin of Latin dances. Fiery and furious, the movement sweeps across the ballroom floor. The connection between the partners is so powerful that they do not even need to be touching for you to see it. Here we see the influences of Flamenco as it is interpreted through the ballroom dance paradigm. It was this dance which initially lured me into a ballroom. Since then, I have learned twenty other dances, but this one still continues to fascinate me. Perhaps this is why I have continued to paint studies of it for so long.
