Foxtrot Study #3 acrylic on paper, 10" x 14", 2009
The International Foxtrot, otherwise known as the Slow Fox, is as sexy as it sounds. Done well, it's a perfectly smooth blending of slow steps and quicksteps, danced on the cutting edge of musical timing. Low, sultry and always elegant, the Slow Fox is often thought to be the hardest of the ballroom dances. This may be due to the prolonged duration of the slow steps, which produces an appearance of weightlessness as the dancers glide across the floor. This must look effortless, but it is far from easy. Foxtrot, in my opinion, is the quintessential ballroom dance.
