Flamenco Dancer
oil on canvas, 32" x 40", 1998

The Flamenco Dancer was a response to my first trip to Spain, where I attended a Flamenco festival in Valencia. Although the movement of the dancer was inspired by dancers at the festival, the face in this image was inspired by a passer-by in La Plaza de la Virgen. I was sitting at a café and I asked this stranger to wait a moment while I sketched him.
This painting depicts a man who tries to win the love of a lady by demonstrating his bravery in the bullfight!

The original of the painting Flamenco Dancer is no longer available for purchase.
It can, however, be ordered as an Archival Print or as a Decorative Print.
