Foxtrot One Korál, 2010 oil on primed and stretched cotton paper, 20" x 28"
The International Foxtrot, otherwise known as the Slow Fox, when danced well, is both elegant and sexy. It is a perfectly smooth blending of slow steps and quicksteps, danced on the cutting edge of musical timing. Low and sultry, the Slow Fox is often thought to be the most difficult of the ballroom dances. This may be due to the prolonged duration of the slow steps, which produces an appearance of weightlessness as the dancers glide across the floor. This must look effortless, but it is far from easy. Foxtrot, in my opinion, is the quintessential ballroom dance. -Korál Seattle, 2010
